Perspective Made Me a Monster (or How I Failed a 5k)

Perspective can change everything.

Perspective is the reason we feel victorious or defeated.  Perspective is how two people can look at the same situation with two very different sets of eyes.  Perspective is often a matter of life experience, of looking back or just a matter of circumstance.  Perspective is more than being an optimist or a pessimist.

The last 4 or 5 days have been a lesson in perspective for me, but let's only focus on one example:

Top 10 of the Weekend (or Why Wil Wheaton Made Me Sleepy)

Remember when I used to make Top 10 lists?  Remember when that was the entire basis for this blog?  I somehow managed to create Top 10 lists to encompass everything I felt like sharing with my faithful reader(s).  I've since taken a sharp right on Live-Blog Lane in the form of The Bachelor (which I don't think will ever happen again) and then a hard left onto Things About My Life Boulevard.  I assume that those of you who have been along for the ride stick around because you're my friend or you find me interesting... but I've been wrong before.

So since I've been struggling with what to blog about for Monday's post, I've decided to revert to the Top 10 Format of the days of yore (which is also from when Rachel's apothecary table hails)

Motivation Monday (Or How I Did Things That I "Don't" Do)

So there are things that I've regularly said I "don't" do.  "Oh, I don't run."  "Oh, I don't camp."  We make these statements because we don't THINK we do them, and we'd rather be the ones to knock our ego down a few notches than ever let anyone else see us fail at something.  Or maybe that's just me... So for years, decades even, I've told people that I don't do a lot of things.  It seems, however, that I do actually do many of the things I claim I do not do.  I'm actually quite good at some of those things.

Thursday Thoughts: A Bullet List of Excitement

I'm the type of "blogger" who randomly expounds upon topics that pop into my head at any given moment.  I've put "blogger" in quotes much like I used to put running in quotes.  This is because I believe that doing something periodically does not make you a person who does that thing.  For example, sometimes I paint; I am NOT a painter.  Anyway.  Lately I've been lacking when it comes to discussion topics.  Long gone are the days of dating blogs, the Bachelor live-blogs (you're welcome, J) and rumination on defining myself.  I'm finding myself stuck, for lack of a better term and mostly because I just mentioned painting, with an empty canvas.  I decided instead to list the things that are coming up shortly for which I am excited.

Running (in Quotes), Awkward Non-Dating and a WANTS list

Today - like most days - I am struggling with a topic about which to write.  I suppose "struggling" is too strong a word for this situation.  Being a single mother with 2 jobs is a struggle.  Living in a war zone is a struggle.  Writing a blog is FAR from a struggle.  So I am just going to spout of words and thoughts and, at the end, leave you with a list of things I want to own.  Sound good?  No?  Too fucking bad.

Bucket List: What to do Before I Become a Grown Up

Happy Friday, follower.  Sorry to change it up on you this week, but I didn't make time on Wednesday night to blog in order to make a post go live on noon (eastern time) Thursday.  So what's happening?  Well, I'm growing up.  For a while now, the older I get, the more I realize I don't feel any older.  Sometimes I actually feel younger.
