Aquatic Life Series: LFD (not LSD), Petey and the Foundation to Save Him (Not the Other 6 Fish in the Tank)

I decided to combine two aquatic pet stories for this blog post.  For one thing, I don't know how exciting it is to write about both of these stories individually.  More truthfully, I think I attributed some of one of the stories to the wrong African Dwarf Frog.  Does it make me a bad pet owner that I can't recall what happened with each frog?  Or is it totally normal because I have had 4 African Dwarf Frogs which is weird enough and there's like NO way to tell them all apart?  Either way, this is the LAST in the aquatic life series. So without further ado...

Aquatic Life Series: Webster and Webster 2.0 (or How PetsMart Stands Behind Their Products)

My sophomore year of college, I was feeling a little bit of empty-nesters syndrome.  My dog (Patches) was at home with my parents and I was feeling quite lonely.  Never mind that I was living in an apartment with 3 of my friends... I felt lonely.  I needed to "parent" something, which in itself is kind of hilarious because I'm not the parenting type.  If you'll recall a couple of blog posts back, I told you the story of how I blew up a frog - Schroeder.  Seeing as how well my stint with Schroeder went, I decided getting another African Dwarf Frog was the answer.

Aquatic Life Series: Schroeder the Frog (...Who Does Not Play the Piano)

As a child, I used to read the comics in the newspaper.  Every weekend.  My parents would sit on either end of the couch with the paper in the middle sifting through the pages they intended to read, intended to give to the other and the ones they were intending to throw away.  I always scooped up the colorful "funny pages" before they ended up in the discard pile.  This has nothing to do with my frog, but it was a memory that popped up when I re-read the title for this post as I decided to blog on this fine day.

Un-Read Book Review Series: The Hunger Games Series

Unless you've spent the last few years in isolation, you have heard of The Hunger Games.  I was saddened to find out that this book wasn't about countries struck by hunger and the fight they face every day to live long enough to procreate and further their family blood lines.

Aquatic Life Series: A Fish Called Fishkel (without Eelbert)

It may surprise you to learn that, in spite of how well I care for Gizmo, I've not always been the best at pet care.  Inspired by a story I read on another blog and a Facebook post by a girl I know, I decided to create a blog series about the many aquatic pets I've had.  They all have stories worth sharing and, in my opinion, worth reading.

Social Media Series: Vine

If you've never Vine'd, allow me to explain this for you.  Vine is an app that is not accessible from any platform other than a phone application.  It allows you to create 6 second videos that loop endlessly and then post them for people to see on vine OR you can link it to your twitter and/or facebook account.  The purpose of the app is to allow the user to... well... um... I guess share 6 seconds of your life or creativity to people you already know.

Social Media Series: Twitter

Ahhh The Twitter.  My second love.  Many of you got to this blog via the twittersphere, so I'm certain you all know what The Twitter is.  In case you do not have previous knowledge of it, it's a platform to post status updates, thoughts, pictures, links, really ANYTHING in 140 characters or less.  While each user can choose their Twitter name and their display name - thus making it often not easy to know WHO is actually tweeting - there is a little profile with photo, bio and location if the user chooses to fill you in on this information.  In The Twitter world, you can follow (and BE followed!) by common folk and celebrities alike!  I'm personally still waiting for @jennyandteets and @aaronfullerton to just follow me already...they both already "favorite" and "retweet" my tweets regularly.  The velvet rope behind which celebrities live their lives disappears on The Twitter and Kanye may reply to Joe Schmo about his new single, or whatever.  Though I can't imagine anything less exciting than Kanye tweeting about how the greatest rap lyric of all time is on his new album...

Pros:
* No annoying vacation/food/baby pictures (unless you click a link within a tweet)
* Connection (though superficially) to a plethora of people from all walks of life
* Hashtags have a purpose (unlike on facebook) where you can click the hashtag to see all of the tweets that have included that hashtag.  This is exceptionally fun when @jimmyfallon and @latenightjimmy do "Late Night Hashtags."  Trust me on this.  It's alllllllways funny.

Cons:
* 140 character limits sometimes hinder what you had wanted to say.  It also fosters shorthand and poor grammar.
* It falsly leads you to believe that people may care about what you have to say.  This is the case for people like Justin Beiber (or Bieber... I don't know OR care) who tweets gems like "mmm mmmm mmm."

Bottom Line: If you're not tweeting, I don't understand what it is for which you are waiting.  That was annoyingly grammatical on purpose, by the way. Get to The Twitter and tweet me something grand!
Rating: Many sweet potatoes.  because YUM!
