Top "10" Covers I Like Better Than The Originals

Yesterday, while I was at Emerald Thai, enjoying the shit out of my crispy chicken spring rolls and some curry chicken, my ears had a little tasty treat of their own: the original Killin' Me Softly by Roberta Flack. Mid "I felt all flushed with fever" I realized, I'm not particularly a fan of this version of the song. This made me think to myself: Self, what other songs do you like the cover version better than the original? And are you able to make a top 10 list out of it for your blog??

Answer: Many. And no. I CAN, however, make a top 13 list and assure you that I spent over an hour trying to put it into an order. I failed at that....

So, without further ado, I give you a semi-organized Top 13 list in some particular order of the songs that I like the cover of more than the original.

13. Signs by Tesla (original: Five Man Electrical Band)
12. You're No Good by Linda Ronstadt (original: Betty Everett)
11. Beggin' by Madcon (original: Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons)
10. Yesterday by Boyz II Men (original: Beatles) **Note: I do NOT mean "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday." Different songs.
9. Give A Little Bit by Goo Goo Dolls (original: Supertramp)
8. Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright (original: Leonard Cohen)
7. Tainted Love by Soft Cell (original: Gloria Jones)
6. Hard to Handle by Black Crows (original: Otis Redding)
5. Cocaine by Eric Clapton (original: JJ Cale). Bet you f***ers didn't even know it was a cover...
4. Killin' Me Softly by Fugees (original: Roberta Flack... Kinda)
3. Have a Little Faith in Me by John Hiatt (original: Beatles)
2. Old Love by John Mayer (original: Eric Clapton) hate me for it all you want, this version makes me damn near cry.
1. Knockin' on Heaven's Door by Guns n Roses (original: Bob Dylan)

Feel free to comment or add songs I suck for not listing; or berate my taste in music. I don't care. :). Yes I do.....
